Resumo: The study of tourism concerns a host of issues with nuances observable from other sciences or disciplines due to the fact that it takes place in different aspects and social structures. In the present study, the objective was to identify gaps and research contributions of the scientific production of the triad of community tourism, cultural heritage and perception. Through a bibliohemerographic review with a content analysis of a descriptive nature, the main results were obtained that the conceptual aspects have been slightly modified and predominates study cases or specific project development proposals. It is important to note that most of the documents reviewed it is necessary to explicitly mention the theoretical approach used in each investigation, this is why it is proposed to approach the studies from a critical perspective that allows laying the foundations for a transformation of rural areas beyond a simplistic vision of tourism as a promoter of development
