Resumo: This paper presents, explains and analyzes the effectiveness, efficiency and relevance of the Tourism Sector Plan (TSP) of Colombia 2018-2020 as an exercise of analysis of tourism public policies. TSP will be studied under the magnifying glass of the recent period of growth in the sector, as well as the new needs of the tourism sector in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, using a chronological analysis of ten indicators that allow measuring the impact of public policies in the tourism economy. It was found that a large part of the good results of the macroeconomic indicators of the tourism sector are due to the good national management of tourism policies. Likewise, the TSP 2018-2022 was rated with a relevance of 86.11% in 2018, at which time this public policy was formulated. Since its relevance was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which poses new needs and public problems, its strategies should be rethought by the end of 2022.
