Resumo: Este estudo de caráter exploratório com abordagem qualitativa tem como objetivo analisar a perspectiva dos vereadores do município de Matinhos, litoral do Paraná, acerca da atividade turística por meio da aplicação de questionário com dezoito questões semiestruturadas entregue aos legisladores. As reflexões provenientes desta pesquisa possibilitam caracterizar a interpretação dos edis acerca do turismo como fator de desenvolvimento do município, sendo o turismo propulsor da economia local, caracterizado pelo segmento de sol e praia. A percepção dos vereadores é exposta como resultados da análise de dados, onde concebem o turismo como uma atividade muito importante para o desenvolvimento local. Nas considerações finais os autores afirmam que a inexistência do Plano Municipal do Turismo, do Conselho Municipal de Turismo, e de uma Lei Municipal do Turismo afeta o desenvolvimento da atividade.Palavras-Chave: Matinhos. THE CITY COUNCILLORS PERSPECTIVE ON TOURISM IN MATINHOS, THE PARANÁ COASTAbstract: This exploratory study with a qualitative approach aims to analyze the perspective of the councilors of the municipality of Matinhos, on the coast of Paraná, about the tourist activity through the application of a questionnaire with eighteen semi-structural questions delivered to legislators. The reflections from this research make it possible to characterize the interpretation of the councilors about tourism as a factor of development of the municipality, and tourism is the driving force behind the local economy, characterized by the sun and beach segment. The perception of councillorsis exposed as results of data analysis, where they conceive tourism as a very important activity for local development. In the final considerations the authors state that the lack of the Municipal Tourism Plan, the Municipal Tourism Council, and a Municipal Tourism Law affects the development of the activity.Keywords: Matinhos.
