Resumo: Barcelona is a city with a rich cultural heritage which can be tangible in many city spaces (buildings, squares, urban monuments, etc.). This fact makes the city more attractive to visitors whose number, since the urban transformation that Barcelona suffered due to the 1992’s Olympic Games, constantly increases reaching nine million tourists that came to Barcelona in 2016. These tourists are mainly attracted by cultural heritage, beaches and Mediterranean lifestyle. Cultural tourism is one of the key factors of Barcelona’s tourism success, since the city becomes the stage where history coexists with present resulting a “big heritage container” (Coma & Santacana, 2010) However, this all’apertoheritage cannot be always interpreted because of a lack of tools which help visitor’s comprehension. Given the touristic position of Barcelona and taking into account Barcelona’s Educating Cities ‘network membership, the city should provide these spaces with tools for its interpretation. In this context, this research aims to deeply analyse the touristic-cultural mediation, specifically the museography that one can encounter in all’apertoheritage sites located in the neighbourhoods of Ciutat Vella and Sarriŕ-Sant Gervasi. Thus, a comparison between these zones provided with large number of cultural attractions but with a different role in touristic circuits, is carried out. An analysis of the identified touristic-cultural mediation tools is also carried out in order to study the message that the city addresses to visitors and citizens.
