Resumo: Mexico stands out among the main medical tourism destinations, the low costs offered by its health companies, around medical procedures and its strategic location with the United States and Canada, allows it to consolidate itself in the preference of international patients, who demand other services Complementary, such as: accommodation, transportation, meals and recreational activities. The objective of this article: is to analyze the characteristics and competitive strategies that allowed Medica Sur to become an economic group of national capital, and its insertion in medical tourism. The methods used are: historical-critical and analytical. The approaches of historical origin and corporate and organizational strategies were used, identifying their size and structure, their acquisitions, alliances and certifications (Concheiro, Fragoso, & Gutiérrez, 1979). Results: Medica Sur is a high-specialty national capital economic group, with a wide range of specialties and medical treatments; accredited by the Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards for Hospitals; its supply and gradual demand make it possible to attend international patients annually, mainly from the United States, France, United Kingdom and Latin America.
