Resumo: The Historic Sanctuary of Pómac Forest (SHBP) is a Natural Protected Area (NPA), which is located in the department of Lambayeque - Peru, holds great cultural wealth because it is the cradle of Sicán and natural culture because it preserves and protects the densest formation of carob trees on the planet. It has positioned itself as an ideal destination for the development of tourism activity as an articulating axis among the different actors of the public, private, academy and local community sectors. Currently, in the buffer zone of this NPA, exist local enterprises related to tourism and eco-tourism activities. The objective of this article is to describe the current situation of local enterprises in order to determine the impacts generated by tourism in the area and how they contribute to the sustainability of the SHBP. Based on the qualitative methodology, field visits and semi-structured interviews were conducted that inquire about the characteristics and conditions of the tourist activity in the key axes of sustainability. The result is to show how local enterprises are based on the development of ecotourism in an NPA, as well as to propose strategies that allow the integration of local enterprises and enhance the benefits that lead to an improvement in the quality of life of the inhabitants of the area; as well as generate conservation and preservation actions of the natural and cultural resources of the NPA.
