Resumo: The dissemination and exploitation of the natural and cultural heritage of Mexico is of great importance for the economy, economic groups dedicated to tourism capitalize on these resources and are a source of wealth and employment. Entertainment tourism combined with sun and beach tourism offers natural and purpose-built parks, as well as hotels and tours. Objective: to analyze the strategies, dimensions and structure that allowed the Xcaret Group  to become a successful economic group. Methods and materials: the methods used were: historical, analytical and descriptive. Secondary sources were used: literature review, company website, databases and official documents. Results: The Xcaret Group began its participation in recreational tourism with the creation of the Xcaret park in 1990, and in 1995 Xel-Ha´. In 2010 they were established as the Xcaret Group. It has the following offer: 1) several parks located in Quinta Roo: Xcaret, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xenses in Playa del Carmen; Xel-Ha´ in the Riviera Maya -Tulum; Xavage and Xoximilco in Cancun; 2) Excursions to archaeological sites, such as Tulum-Xel-ha and Tulum-coba´-Xel Ha; and 3) it has three hotels. Conclusions: the economic strategies carried out to grow implied: a) increase of assets; b) product diversification; c) creation of networks as a market control mechanism; d) capital accumulation; and); synergies within the group; f) social responsibility, and g) state support.
