Resumo: RESUMENLas áreas naturales protegidas (ANP) proporcionan diversos servicios públicos y sociales para la puesta en marcha del turismo. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es proponer un modelo de investigación que genere informaciones relevantes para establecer estrategias de gestión sostenible en las zonas rurales próximas a las áreas protegidas de República Dominicana, con la finalidad de fomentar la economía social de las comunidades. La metodología utilizada para realizar el estudio ha consistido en un análisis de la revisión de la literatura existente en relación al desarrollo rural, el turismo y las áreas protegidas, además de aplicar el método cualitativo de la observación participante. El modelo propuesto en este estudio tiene como finalidad conocer las valoraciones, opiniones y percepciones de todos los actores en involucrados en el turismo que se desarrolla en las ANP. A partir de los datos obtenidos con la aplicación del modelo, los actores competentes podrán diseñar, planificar y aplicar un plan de manejo de gestión turística sostenible, que garantice una gobernanza local del turismo por parte de los residentes.PALABRAS CLAVETurismo. Áreas Naturales Protegidas. Comunidad Rural. República Dominicana ABSTRACTThe protected natural areas (PNA) provide various public and social services for the implementation of tourism. The main purpose of this research is to propose a research model that generates relevant information to establish sustainable management strategies in rural areas close to the protected areas of the Dominican Republic, with the aim of promoting the social economy of the communities. The methodology used to carry out the study consisted of an analysis of the existing literature review in relation to rural development, tourism and protected areas, in addition to applying the qualitative method of participant observation. The model proposed in this study aims to know the assessments, opinions and perceptions of all the actors involved in tourism that takes place in the ANP. Based on the data obtained with the application of the model, it will be possible to design, plan and apply a management plan for sustainable tourism management, which guarantees local governance of tourism by residents.KEYWORDSTourism.
