Resumo: Industrial tourism has been gaining importance and more and more ground, being broadly discussed in Portugal, since a few years. This paper aims to present a set of planning strategies in industrial tourism. In terms of methodology, this study was based on the analysis of the existing literature on the specific subject of industrial tourism planning, as well as on the selection of case studies that allowed the systematization of guidelines for the planning process of the tourism typology in study. The strategies presented are organised in three major areas: product organisation, intrinsic global environment and governance. It is concluded that these are the three essential action spheres to the planning process, in order to give an efficient and effective answer in the implementation of a product of industrial tourism at the municipal or regional level.
