Resumo: RELIGIOUS TOURISM AND PLACES OF MEMORY Resumo: A memória de um povo está relacionada aos personagens e lugares que foram protagonistas de acontecimentos históricos. O turismo tem evoluído, e sua conexão com a religiosidade contribui para estruturar destinos turísticos. O estudo de caso investiga a preservação da memória do Beato Padre João Schiavo em Caxias do Sul por meio da sua trajetória e dos efeitos de sua obra no interior do município. A investigação, de natureza exploratória, foi realizada por meio de pesquisa documental e e bibliográfica, utilizando como referência teórica as obras de Nora (1993), Halbwachs (2004), Candau (2014) e Pollak (1992). Constatou-se que a capela que abriga o túmulo do Beato, o seu memorial no distrito de Fazenda Souza e a rota turística Caminho Padre João Schiavo são lugares de memória, elementos que mantêm vivo o seu legado e contribuem como espaço de devoção. Abstract: The memory of a people is related to the characters and places that were protagonists of historical events. Tourism has evolved, and its connection with religiosity helps to structure tourist destinations. The case’s study investigates the preservation of the memory of Blessed Father João Schiavo in Caxias do Sul through his trajectory and the effects of his work in the interior of the city. The investigation, of an exploratory nature, was carried out through documentary and bibliographic research, using as theoretical reference the works of Nora (1993), Halbwachs (2004), Candau (2014) and Pollak (1992). It was found that the chapel that houses the tomb of the Blessed, his memorial in the Fazenda Souza district and the Padre João Schiavo Path tourist route are places of memory, elements that keep his legacy alive and contribute as a space of devotion.
