Resumo: O município de Nova Petrópolis é parte da região turística da Serra Gaúcha, no Rio Grande do Sul, cuja relação inicial com o Turismo se deu em função de sua localização, junto ao caminho que conduz a Gramado, um dos principais destinos turísticos no Brasil. Este artigo tem por objetivo reunir e sistematizar informações sobre a trajetória histórica do Turismo no local, utilizando-se para tal a história oral, ancorada em entrevistas e tendo como outros suportes a pesquisa documental e bibliográfica. Busca-se, ainda, estabelecer os possíveis diálogos com a história regional do Turismo no Rio Grande do Sul. Os resultados destacam a importância da etnicidade, no caso, da germanidade, para o desenvolvimento turístico do município de Nova Petrópolis, primeiro a partir das expressões culturais ali presentes e, num segundo momento, com incentivo a sua reprodução com a criação de Parque Aldeia do Imigrante, um parque temático da cultura germânica. Tourism In Rio Grande Do Sul: The Historical Presence In Nova Petrópolis, RS, Brazil - The municipality of Nova Petrópolis is part of the touristic region of the Serra Gaúcha, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, whose initial relationship with tourism occurred because of its localization on the way to Gramado. The objective of this article is to put together and systematize information about the historical trajectory of tourism in the place. For this purpose oral history was used anchored in interviews and having other supports such as documental and bibliographic research. It was also sought to establish the possible dialogues with the regional history of tourism in Rio Grande do Sul. The results highlight the importance of ethnicity, specifically germanity, for the touristic development of the municipality of Nova Petrópolis, firstly because of the cultural expression found there and secondly for the incentive to its reproduction with the creation of the Parque Aldeia do Imigrante, a German culture theme park.
