Resumo: The Smart Tourism Destinations model and methodology of the region of Valencia have given rise to a dynamic of collaboration and operational synergy that extends from the regional government to the rest of the stakeholders in the region’s tourism system. The aim of this study is to analyse the implementation and adaptation of this smart management model at a provincial level (Costa Blanca). In order to do so, it is essential to understand the political and administrative complexity of the area of study, the different uses of new technology in the field of tourism, and the dimensions of the smart tourism destination model and its possible impact at a provincial level. The study uses a qualitative research approach, combining the techniques of literature review and semi-structured interviews with industry professionals and reputed researchers in the field. The results show that the success of the model will depend on the tourism institutions responsible for its implementation and promotion at different levels (Costa Blanca Tourist Board, DTI-CV Network of Invat-tur and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana), and their ability to develop the strategy effectively and coherently in keeping with the principle of sustainability and Next Generation EU goals.
