Resumo: This article aims to discuss the perceptions of tourism workers about their performance and their relationship with the phenomenon of tourism. Through a questionnaire applied online with Brazilian tourism workers, we asked the respondent's perception as a worker in the tourism sector and their perception of the relationship between their work and the sector. Based on the content analysis of the responses, we found that the way workers perceive themselves concerning the sector is heterogeneous and complex, revealing contradictions between the choices of recognition as a worker in the sector and the perceptions about their work.
