Resumo: Community-based tourism is conceived as a tool to promote local development and environmental conservation under the umbrella of a tourism model controlled and managed by the local populations of the places where it takes place. The book reviewed here presents an anthropological approach to the particularities of this model through various case studies in Latin America and Spain, longitudinally analysed by specialists and linked via three interrelated approaches: resilience, community and socio-environmental alternatives. This is an inductive reflection with an argumentative analytical thread of sufficient clarity and precision that it facilitates understanding to the reader, specialized or not, providing a general theoretical perspective of the phenomena and processes involved in community-based tourism, while allowing for greater and depper study of the specificities of each case study.
