Resumo: The experience of the Spanish Armada (1588) left fourteen shipwrecks along the Irish west coast which have been the object of cultural and tourist exploitation, especially in the 21st century. The treatment of the shipwrecks of the Spanish Armada links the natural heritage (Wild Atlantic Way) with the historical memorials along 2500 kilometres, and with a inland path called De Cuellar’s trail. Those treatments rely on specific signalling point, social networks, recreations, museums and interpretation centres, and the whole constitutes a reference for the international interpretation and tourism promotion focuses on shipwrecks. In addition, the set gives the land and the local people a remarkable enviromental and historical system based on the Spanish shipwrecks points. The analysis of the idea, the entrepreneurship, the effort, the economic and social impact on the environment plus the current state of the treatment, as well as its touristic and cultural use, are the themes of this conference. Also, the “Alada Salamandra” shows the purpose about a whole guide focus on these shipwrecks on Ireland.
