Resumo: Given the sustained growth that Geotourism has experienced worldwide, it is crucial to gain a better understanding of geotourists. The primary purpose of this study is to understand visitors' motivations to visit a geopark. An online survey was applied to people who had visited the Arouca Geopark and 607 responses were validated. The study reveals that the main motivations were 'Novelty and Nature'and 'Escape, Relaxation and Enjoyment', although other motivational factors exist, namely 'Knowledge', 'Socialization'and 'Sports and Adrenaline'. This study is essential to all that work directly or indirectly in geoparks, as they can better adapt their products and services to those who visit them.
