Resumo: Sustainable Tourism brings with it a new ethic of tourism, as well as of the tourist, sensitivity towards nature, culture, and ways of life of the host localities and entails innumerable benefits for all actors related to the sector. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the different externalities that can be derived from the economic activities of tourism framed within the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically in Colombia. To carry out the above, a documentary review composed of five methodological phases is developed that account for the systematicity in the process, to show the evolution of the concept of sustainable tourism, the trend in the types of research with which it has been approached the theme and tensions that may exist between the approaches of the SDGs and sustainable tourism. 1064 articles published in Scopus were analyzed and the data were processed with the qualitative analysis software Nvivo V12. The results show that despite the eorts to minimize the negative externalities caused by the development of tourism activity, there are still tensions between the actions carried out, since adopting some sustainability practices could negatively impact other development objectives.
