Resumo: This paper investigates the characteristics of the private accommodation offered on the digital intermediation platform known as Airbnb. The emergence of this digital accommodation offer has contributed to modifying both the structure and dynamics of the traditional accommodation industry as well as the travel experience of contemporary tourists worldwide. This work focuses on exploring the case of the city of Guanajuato, one of the main urban-cultural destinations in Mexico. Through a data mining methodology, information collected and analyzed automatically and systematized to gain a better understanding of the characteristics of this offer, including its size, dynamics, and evolution. The results obtained here allow the identification of these characteristics and, at the same time, promote reflection on their immediate effects within the destination. Based on the findings of this study, other destinations could consider conducting similar research exercises.
