Resumo: The aim of this article is to analyse the maritime and nautical tourism plans of the coastal towns of Ares and Mugardos (Galicia). The study used a qualitative methodology consisting of 13 semi-structured interviews with relevant social actors, tourist surveys, and participant observation. The main findings show an awareness among residents of the development opportunities for both types of tourism in the area, a current tourist profile of families aged between 45 and 64 years and motivated primarily by nature and landscapes, and tourism development potential in relation to maritime and nautical sights and activities. The results also indicate the presence of issues arising from the lack of intelligent tourism planning.
