Resumo: RESUMO: Este artigo tem por objetivo examinar (investigar, caracterizar e compreender) as relações entretidas entre a preservação do Patrimônio Cultural através da prática do Turismo de Base Comunitária em Comunidades Quilombolas, procurando observar e discutir os possíveis desafios e as possíveis oportunidades para tal empreitada. A metodologia para o intento de tal objetivo, para além das necessárias revisões bibliográficas, consiste em uma pesquisa qualitativa, exploratória, com imersão à Comunidade Quilombola Negros do Riacho pertencente a cidade de Currais Novos (RN). Para tanto, a partir de uma observação participante e interações com a comunidade em estudo foi possível o diálogo com lideranças e artesãos da comunidade a fim de compreender as possíveis aspirações e formas de empoderamento através da prática do Turismo de Base Comunitária, possibilitando a preservação do saber-fazer, das práticas e manifestações culturais, portanto do patrimônio cultural, pertencente a estes e os possíveis desafios e oportunidades para o desenvolvimento de um projeto com cunho turístico que venha a promover ganhos econômicos, sociais e trocas culturais entre visitantes e visitados. ABSTRACT: The aim of this article is to examine (investigate, characterize and understand) the relationships between the preservation of Cultural Heritage through the practice of Community-Based Tourism in Quilombola Communities, seeking to observe and discuss the possible challenges and opportunities for such an undertaking. The methodology for achieving this objective, in addition to the necessary bibliographical reviews, consists of qualitative, exploratory research, with immersion in the Negros do Riacho Quilombola Community in the city of Currais Novos (RN). To this end, through participant observation and interactions with the community under study, it was possible to talk to community leaders and artisans in order to understand the possible aspirations and forms of empowerment through the practice of Community-Based Tourism, enabling the preservation of know-how, cultural practices and manifestations, and therefore of the cultural heritage belonging to them, and the possible challenges and opportunities for the development of a tourism project that will promote economic and social gains and cultural exchanges between visitors and those visited.
