Resumo: The Mexican State registers and coordinates the tourist offer whose cultural and historical wealth leads to the establishment and evaluation of public policies in favor of the regional development of the nation. The Magical Towns program considers those localities that have cultural resources such as symbolic attributes, history, and heritage, which can be used to increase tourist activities. Objective: to know the characteristics that localities that aspire to the Magical Town distinction must possess and to disseminate the heritage of the magical towns of Tabasco. Methods: historical and analytical methods are used. The research is documentary type with descriptive scope, it is supported by secondary sources of information. Results: in Mexico, the Pueblos Mágicos program as a public policy promotes economic growth with a multiplier effect by supporting tourist destinations through investments, infrastructure, equipment and improvement of the urban image; Tabasco joins this objective with its three benefited towns: Tapijulapa, Tacotalpa; Centla and Teapa.
