Resumo: Costa Rica is recognized for its biodiversity and ecological tourism model. In the last decade, ethno-tourism has increased, as its offer brings together natural resources, cultural traditions and rural life. The tourist's gaze is guided by the ideals of tourism and elements of the daily life of these ethnic groups, which are of interest to various types of tourists. This paper reviews the context of the country's eight indigenous peoples and the areas of intangible cultural heritage that have become tourist attractions. The effects of tourism and Covid-19 have influenced the communities in different ways depending on their dependence on tourism activity.
