Resumo: The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the analysis of women's labor protection and its association with development in the municipality of Jalpan de Serra, Querétaro. A qualitative methodology was used. Information was retrieved through a focus group in which economically active women participated. In addition, the content of a municipal regulation was analyzed. The findings show that, at the municipal level, the existing regulations establish three lines of action to ensure the protection of women, which are classified in the first two proposed levels of protection (basic or mild intervention level, moderate intervention level, high level and maximum level). Specific actions are suggested to improve and achieve social justice, especially at the labor level, both for the women participants and for other workers in the region.
