Resumo: The aim of this study is to examine the perceptions of experienced hospitality professionals in Macau regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability initiatives within the hotel industry. The study explores whether hospitality professionals’ perceptions of CSR focus on any one of the three dimensions of sustainability in particular (environmental, social, economic). The data for the study were collected using a Likert-type scale questionnaire and non-probability convenience sampling, followed by the snowball method. A principal component analysis was carried out to identify the Triple Bottom Line dimensions related to the perception of CSR initiatives, and a semi-structured interview with a sustainability expert in the Macau hospitality industry was conducted to complement the information obtained from the surveys. The results suggest that all three dimensions of the triple bottom line (economic, environmental and social) are perceived as important without significant differences, and CSR initiatives improve organisational identity among hospitality managers in Macau. These findings may be interpreted as indicative of a holistic understanding of CSR and sustainability among hospitality managers. The study’s limitations include a small sample size and a focus on hospitality professionals in Macau, which could limit the generalisability of the findings. Overall, the study highlights the importance of CSR and sustainability initiatives in the hospitality industry, and recommends deeper integration of the triple bottom line into the overall organisational management of hotels and casinos in Macau.
