Resumo: The identity of peoples and nation states is one of the most debated and defended rights in various legislative spaces of various organizations on a planetary scale. From the human congregations in the primary stages of development, the peoples themselves naturally and instinctively raise this right, to the most organized and developed structures of society. Establishing the balance between development and identity in this century is a challenge for any nation state. The defense of culture and identity values inherent in the era of globalization and the influence of ICTs is a battle in which the peoples do not give up. The present work corresponds to a scientific task of the doctoral research of the author whose research topic is Cultural Tourism. Its objective is to show how the cultural identity of a small community on the Cienfuegos coast has contributed to the socioeconomic development of its inhabitants, relying on cultural tourism, in the gastronomic segment, as a generator of sources of income and employment. The use of various methods of scientific and empirical research. The work with primary sources in which the fundamental role was occupied by personal communication with the members of the community allowed the proposed objective to be fulfilled. The results shown correspond to the conclusive result of the scientific task.
