Resumo: Nightlife is a fundamental offer for many tourist destinations, although it has been more neglected than other offers in academic analyses. It is necessary to add that around nightlife, represented mainly by nightclubs, there are many stereotypes and prejudices about its management and entrepreneurs. The aim of this essay is to ponder on the stereotypes and reality of this sector, through the Lucifer series (2016-2021) and the example of several entrepreneurs from Ibiza. The starting point of the series is Lucifer Morningstar taking a vacation from his obligations in the Hell. Lucifer opens the LUX nightclub in Los Angeles (United States), but only uses it as a tool for show off and personal promotion, representing a widespread stereotype about entrepreneurs in the sector. For its part, several notable examples are taken from the nightlife offer on the Ibiza Island (Spain): Pepe Aguirre (Es Paradís), Martín Ferrer (Amnesia), Pepe Roselló (Space) and Ricardo Urgell (Pacha). It should be noted that Ibiza is an international benchmark for nightlife and the selected examples are very representative. The comparison shows that nightlife is a very complex and high-risk sector, where success in nightclub management implies: previous experience in the sector; strong involvement in planning and management; continuous innovation and reinvestment; great ability to organize teams.
