Resumo: The growth of tourism businesses has generated social and environmental impacts in Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl. Thus, the indigenous population has carried out certain actions to limit the activity and prevent tourism like what happened in Tepoztlán Pueblo Mágico. These actions consist of the use of instruments framed in usages and customs, as well as a repertoire of strategies inherited from a tradition of struggle for land to negotiate the limits of the activity with external tourism entrepreneurs. In this way, agreements have been generated between the community and businessmen to carry out an activity with lower impacts, which is oriented towards more inclusive tourism and with a greater presence in the management of the activity of the local population. In this work, mixed methodology strategies were used. The objective was to reveal the community's mechanisms to limit the growth of tourism to generate a more inclusive activity with lower impacts. It was observed that the advance of tourism is progressive and that in the future the forms of negotiation within the community will be those that lead to agreements in which a more inclusive activity is reached and with greater participation of residents, to generate tourism with greater benefits and fewer negative impacts.
