Resumo: When migrants decide to move, they may develop feelings of distress, fear, stress, depression, and various other mental health problems. The migration phenomenon has been highlighted by the considerable number of South American migrants who come to Mexico's northern border to seek passage to the United States, but when they cannot, some choose to stay and live in Mexican border cities such as Ciudad Juárez. Five interviews were conducted with South American migrants awaiting their asylum applications from five countries: Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Honduras, and Cuba. The interviews were conducted between April and May 2020. The migrants indicated that at some point they felt sad, overwhelmed, and worried about their fate, they believe that there are more opportunities in Juarez to progress and have a better future than in their countries of origin, so they intend to stay in this city
