Resumo: Vietnam is a multi-religious and belief nation. Traditional beliefs have occupied an important position and left significant traces in the social activities and Vietnamese people. The Red River Delta region is considered the cradle of traditional beliefs and festivals in Vietnam, such as beliefs in ancestor worship, village's tutelary god worship, national hero worship, goddess worship, fertility worship, life cycle, and ancestor of handicraft worship. Traditional religious activities are reserved and promoted by the people in order to connect, consolidate the community and satisfy the people’s cultural and spiritual activities, enhance the moral values and lifestyles of Vietnamese people, contribute significantly to preserving the traditional cultural values of the nation. The article uses some research methods such as: Analysis method, Synthesis method, Comparative method, and Ethnographic fieldwork method to learn the characteristics of traditional beliefs and to properly appreciate the role of traditional beliefs in the spiritual life of people in the Red River Delta in Vietnam today.
