Resumo: The African legacy in Bahia, and particularly in the city of Salvador, is a determining factor of the city?s cultural identity. The construction of the „Rosário dos Pretos? Church is an important part to understand a story of resistance and imposition of Colonial Bahia. This article aims to identify the general history of the „Rosário dos Pretos? Church, and its cultural contributions to the development of ethnic tourism (African) in Salvador. With this goal we used historical documents of the own Church?s files as well as bibliographies on the subject. The ethnic tourism, focused mainly on African descendants, can find in Salvador and in the streets of its Historic Center an important tool for the reconstruction of its identity.
