Resumo: The present Work reports a diachronic analysis carried out in 1997, 2003 and 2010, which sought to know the attitudes of Algarvian managers towards the employment of socially discriminated people, recognizing that there are people who have more difficulties than others in being integrated into the labor market. We are currently experiencing an economic crisis in the Western world in general and particularly in Portugal, where there are difficulties in controlling public expenditure and budget deficit, subjecting the companies to a growing effort to adapt to instability in order to ensure their survival (Câmara, Guerra & Rodrigues, 2007). Faced with external instability and internal diversity, because the workforce has changed regarding the feminization and also ethnic, age, cultural and religious diversity (Robbins, 1998), firms focus on rationalizing costs to increase productivity and do not want to take risks, always looking for more skilled and productive workers, capable of responding to new challenges. However, this reality can also include attitudes of discrimination and prejudice in relation to various social groups.
