Resumo: The coastal tradition in the Algarve, the most important Portuguese tourism destination, is well known. The region has based its economic activities in maritime and marine resources since ancient times. Nowadays, besides costal tourism, fisheries, aquaculture and even new cutting-edge activities linked with the economic valorisation of marine sciences have an important weight in the region. This article, based on the qualitative results of the Atlantic Area KIMERAA project regional analysis, identifies critical dimensions in the vision of relevant stakeholders for the creation of a regional Sea Cluster.
