Resumo: Before the current situation, companies are located in a market morecompetitive business, becoming an urgent adjustment or modificationof its management. We know that is through innovation thatcompanies can be competitive, so it is important to its ongoingimplementation and consequently demand for new products and newproduction processes, in order to cope with competition and maintainits competitive position . Given the importance of studying the topic ofinnovation in enterprises, this article aims to analyze the differentperspetives of innovation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) ofBeira Interior of Portugal. In the methodology we used as aninstrument of research questions in the CIS III in 2008 and statisticalprocessing of data was prepared based on a fator analysis. From theanalysis of data showed that managers innovate taking into accountthree perspetives very important: on one hand with the objetive ofreducing costs and ensuring environmental sustainability, on theother by the need to update, and second, a perspetive to guide themarket.
