Resumo: Nowadays, to be competitive in society means tohave a technological framework that fi ts customerresponses. In tourism, the need for ICT (Informationand Communication Technologies) is even moreimportant, since to sell the tourist product it iscrucial to disclose the information that characterizesit, plus, it is necessary to organize, manage and dealwith it in accordance with the tourists’ expectations.After the tourist product has been consumed, itis important to share the experience with othertravellers.The process of purchase and consumption ofa tourist product is possible only if tourists andprofessionals have access to the informationrequired, and for this it is necessary to use systemsthat can: manage results, fl ights and customerloyalty, distribute information and travel planning,among other things. All these systems have touristinformation management in common, which leadsto the conclusion that they are indispensable totourism. This paper presents several informationsystems that coexist in the tourism sector, as well asthose used in tourist distribution channels. Finallywe show the trends that these systems are causingin tourism.
