Resumo: This article presents the discussion about the differences between the Generation X and Generation Y in the environments of developing Information Technology. Generation Y has as characteristics: easy to absorb new technologies, ability to do several activities at once. On the other hand are shown impatient with regard to the rise and functional changes in the company and pay for employment with ease. However, these were also the characteristics of Generation X in a decade and a half ago. Companies are facing the challenge of how to retain this talent, since for a company engaged in development staff turnover implies high costs and often the loss of certain skills. The managers would have to adopt a different management style for this age group of professionals or would only generational conflict?
