Resumo: The characteristics of many labor markets show the failure to securelong term employment, so employability appears as a guarantee ofprofessional success. The main goals of this paper are to analyze theimpact that internal employability has on intention to quit (ITQ) andon the development of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Jobsatisfaction is presented as the intervening variable in theserelationships. The research model proposed is analysed empirically.Evidence shows the positive influence of perceived internalemployability on job satisfaction. However, although it can beconcluded that job satisfaction decreases intention to quit, the findingsfor organizational citizenship behavior are inconclusive. Moreover, thenegative relationship between ITQ and OCB is supported. Finally, toconclude we argue that the psychological contract can be reinforcedthrough greater professional recognition, a higher level oforganizational communication, and greater involvement as well asprofessional initiative.
