Resumo: Saltpans are located in wetlands of extreme importance for nature and biodiversity conservation. However a progressive abandonment of these areas has been verified, due to the low profits of the production of salt by artisanal methods. With the objective of its revitalization, diverse activities are emerging, aiming at promoting, preserving, and conserving saltpans through a sustainable approach. Tourism activities, e.g., try to benefit from the existent potentialities, since these areas provide relaxing and leisure moments of high quality to the visitors. Saltpans of Ria de Aveiro are an essential component of the ecosystem, history, culture and landscape of this lagoon system, representing privileged areas for boosting tourist activities. In this way, diverse activities were developed at Santiago da Fonte Saltpan, namely the assessment and implementation of measures to adapt and promote accessible tourism. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the developed work that allowed the adaptation of the visit model and the physical area of Santiago da Fonte Saltpan to the development of inclusive tourist activities, as well as the extrapolation of the results to other areas with similar characteristics.
