Resumo: The present study aims the application of three models of location of hotels in urban destinations: the historical and tourist city model of Burtenshaw, Bateman and Ashworth (Burtenshaw et al., 1981), the historic tourist town model of Ashworth and Tunbridge (2000) and the hierarchy of location model of hotels of Egan and Nield (2000). The study object was the hospitality of the city of Curitiba during the period of 1966 to 2008. The application of European models in a Brazilian city is due to the lack of Brazilian models and the search for a location model of hotels. We adopted an approach empirical-analytical and conceptual literature review; data were obtained by literature and documentary. After the study it was found that there was scatter in the location of the hotels after the installation of the automakers in the metropolitan region of Curitiba after the year 1995, which has not occurred in 1972 when the Industrial City of Curitiba was born. The application of historical tourist city model of Burtenshaw et al., (1981) was confirmed, the hotels are close to the historic centre and access roads. The historic tourist town model of Ashworth and Tunbridge (2000), was not confirmed in Curitiba, since it was detected a different model. As for the hierarchical location of hotels model of Egan and Nield (2000), it was rejected because the hotels in Curitiba not follow an order of location. There is a higher concentration of hotels category to corroborate the model advocated by the authors which shows the location of the special hospitality of Curitiba.
