Resumo: This article aims to analyze how can the Galo de Barcelos, as heritage of this territory, contribute to its development as a tourist destination. The Galo de Barcelos came from two customs of this territory community, namely the handicraft of roosters and the Jacobean legend of the rooster miracle.These two customs eternalize in time, and were associated by the tourism intervention. Furthermore, the heritage associated to Galo de Barcelos, namely the handicraft, Camino de Santiago, gastronomy (the roast rooster from the legend), wines (Vinho Verde), and the local weekly market are presented as the main tourist attractions of this territory. This article is part of a PhD thesis in tourism that aims at creating an explanatory model for the development process and implementation of creative tourism, where the case study is the Galo de Barcelos territory.
