Estrutura e distribuição espacial do trabalho formal e informal no turismo do Brasil: contributos geográficos ao planejamento turístico regional brasileiro

Resumo: This study fits into the context of the economic importance of tourism, especially its high potential for job creation, in contrast to the prevailing insecurity in labour relations in the provision of tourist services. The research allowed to identify, analyse and represent, in graphs and maps, the structure and spatial distribution of formal and informal work in tourism in Brazil, at national, regional and state scales, from estimates of formal and informal employed done by the Brazilian Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA). It was found that there is a prevalence of informality in the labour relations of the majority of employed in tourism, notwithstanding the informality is more important in the North and Northeast, fairly the developed regions of the country. The services of “Transport”, “Food” and “Accommodation” are those that employ the majority of workers in tourism in Brazil, but only in the services of “Accommodation” and “Rent Transportation” the rates of formality in employment are higher than 50%. The findings of this study, and its reflections, are geographical contributions to the Brazilian regional tourism planning, by the recognition of places, regions and sectors of tourism services where priority actions can produce a tourism that actually brings economic and social development to the destinations.
