Resumo: The general objective of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the creation of new enterprises in the tourism sector. It had as specific objectives: identify the profile and the motivations of entrepreneurs for business creation in the tourist sector; verify if had planning and if the previous experience of the entrepreneur influenced in this process; verify the influence of the family; point the sources of used resources and to examine if had support of the public sector for the creation of the business. The research strategy adopted was of multiple cases studies and had been analyzed six cases selected between travel agencies located in Aracaju that had been created have at least three years and that entrepreneurs were in the management of the business. It was verified that some factors can influence the creation of new businesses of the tourism sector, but between them deserves prominence the high level of education of entrepreneurs, the support of the family and the previous experience in the activity. Calls attention in the studied cases is that, although entrepreneurs have high education level, they are not prepared for the planning or to manage the businesses.
