Resumo: The interpretation of the value of water and landscape for tourism and leisure activities is one of the main motivations for this research. In this context, it is necessary to know the various types of endogenous resources inherent to the Alva river, located in the central region of Portugal. It is a low-density territory with serious problems of sustainability but with enormous tourist potential, where the tourism sector can be one of the most important socioeconomic driver for its development, also acting in the environmental and cultural preservation. It is necessary to carry out an inventory of the resources to understand its tourist potential, which is an essential first step to later dene the relative importance of the various tourist products to this territory, contributing to develop its tourist image. We intend to highlight the interest of aggregating the entire tourism oer of the 7 municipalities that intend to develop the Great Alva Route (GRA) project, which will be carried out in partnership among these municipalities. The field methodology is based on the diagnosis of existing pedestrian paths and the feasibility of their eventual integration into the GRA. It is believed that a destination marketing strategy, particularly at an international level, can benefit this region and contribute to the development of this hiker market niche.
