Resumo: We evaluate the potential of the Brazilian tourism market as a source of employment and income. We use the input-output matrix for the Brazilian tourism market in 2006, which allows us to study the links between tourism and the rest of the Brazilian economy. We estimate the forward and backward effects of tourism on the other sectors of the economy and we evaluate its impact on employment, income and the environment.
