Resumo: The present study aims to present and spread hypotheses about the communication of tourism in Brazil, with specific focus on differences in the representation of the roles of black and white people in tourism. Its methodology is based on content analysis of a mass of data obtained from an important Brazilian magazine about tourism, and extends in a critical discourse analysis of the collected material. The relevance of this work is to propose the development of critical studies on tourism issues and racism in Brazil, where there is the myth of racial democracy, however, such discourse has weaknesses. From the analysis of the collected material, we found an almost exclusive representation of the tourist as being white. In the case of black people, their role as a tourist is minimal, however, as a rule, the black people is presented as a servant of tourism or tourist attraction.
