Resumo: This paper presents a comparative study between tourism higher education in Brazil and the Netherlands. In order to introduce the context where tourism higher education is situated, a general overview of each country’s education system and some of its most significant influential issues are offered. Then, a critical review of the provision of tourism higher education in Brazil and in the Netherlands is presented. The main aim of the paper is to stimulate more comparative studies amongst countries in different stages of development and to foster the exchange of experiences.
