Resumo: This paper aims to analyse the existing scientic studies on academic tourism, namely its typology and impacts, from the perspective of several authors. In order to achieve this goal, searches were performed in the Scopus database, resulting in a total of 66 articles published in the last decade. From the analysis of the 17 selected articles, it can be concluded that: (i) the authors are relatively consensual about the importance of academic tourism for the development of destinations and students' personal experiences; and (ii) two dimensions of analysis emerge in the articles studied, namely the economic impacts and motivations of students in mobility. There is a predominance of quantitative methodologies in the empirical studies developed, being the questionnaire the most used data collection technique. The article concludes with some reections on future research needs in this area.
