Resumo: This article is an ethnographic study about leisure, sexuality and the tourism phenomenon in São Paulo (SP) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ), the largest urban centers and tourist destinations in Brazil. It is an interdisciplinary research, using participant observation to conduct forays into tourists’ interactions online and in leisure and entertainment places near the tourist centers during 2013, in order to identify the profile of men seeking for sexual encounters in leisure time in their travels, out of the sex trade circuit. Among the results are men aged 20 to 65 who travel alone or in small groups of friends or family for several reasons, including work, shopping or vacation. During these travels, they find social isolation or individual activity that allow them to transpose the social surveillance, providing opportunities for new social and sexual interactions in leisure practices, experiencing sexual pleasures as part of the travel.
