Resumo: In Almancil one can find the highest concentration of golf courses of Portugal. They represent 55% of the golf courses of Loulé’s municipality, 22% of the region units and more than 25% of the rounds done by golfers that visited Algarve in 2003. Therefore, golf assumes one of the sustaining bases of business tourism of this place. The way golfers perceive the quality of the golf course is unknown by most of the managers. In this article it is evaluated the way golfers position each of the courses based on the attributes, which form the demand. It is proved that they use few attributes to conceive golf courses positioning. This study concludes that Almancil is firmly positioned on golfers mind, with clear competitive advantages compared with its’ destination area competitors. The competitive advantages of Almancil, to those who usually play there, are the quality of the courses and its’ upkeep.
