Resumo: This research aimed to analyse the relationship between environmental munificence and strategic behavior in the perception of managers of travel agencies in the two main tourist destinations in the State of Santa Catarina/BR. For the determination of environmental munificence the theory of Castrogiovanni (1991) was discussed and for strategic behaviour we use the typology of Miles and Snow (1978). The study was exploratory and descriptive, being developed through the application of a survey based on a quantitative approach. The strategic behaviour of the travel agents was assigned using three different ways and the results were calculated as averages of these three methods, indicating that 26.15% of the companies have an analyst behaviour, 27.69% defensive, 28.21% prospector, and 17,95% relative behaviour. The ANOVAs performed for the munificence with behaviour as a predictor, were significant for the dimension “growth and decline” and “opportunity and threat” according to the model of Conant et al. (1990). But when the munificence “opportunity and threat” was analysed according to the model of Verdinelli and Escobar (2011) a strong significance was verified. In the analysis of the sums of the means of the prevalent overall munificence, “opportunity and threat” registered the highest mean, the lowest standard deviation and the lowest variance.
