Resumo: The Rio de Janeiro in the beginning of the century XX was considered for the standards of the time an ugly and unhealthy, distant city, so, of being a modern city and attractive for the tourism. But did like the Rio de Janeiro come to be turned into that of the most beautiful and attractive cities of the World? In order to elucidate relevant investigation, we define like objective of this inquiry the analysis of the process of evolution of the urbane structure of the Rio de Janeiro during the first decade of the century XX, characterizing the Tourism like inductor and, at the same time, product of the town planning project of the city of the Rio de Janeiro. The methodology used in this inquiry was based essentially on the critical analysis of primary fountains and principally secondary documents, with distinction for the press of the time, responsible for material textual almond cake and iconographic that much contributed to the construction of this work. We emphasize also that the theoretical foundation adopted in this work aims to articulate the categories and coherent concepts with the theme tourist-urbane, in the attempt of making a list of the appearance of the Tourism in the city of the Rio de Janeiro to the process of urbane evolution of the space of Rio de Janeiro. The preliminary analysis of this inquiry points to the process of structuring of the urbane space of Rio de Janeiro, like determinant for the touristification of the City of the Rio de Janeiro in the period open to question.
